It was on February 19, 2002 when agreement of the absolute sale of then Salenttinian Academy to Recoletos Academy Inc was
legally closed. However, said forerunner school was allowed to finish SY 2001-2002 because all required reports to the DepEd
has to be complied with first.
Why Recoletos Academy Inc.? As early as November 2001 the change of name was already submitted to the Securty and Exchange
Commision for approval. Out of five suggested names submitted, Recoletos Academy Inc. was SEC's priority for it was the very
first name of an elementary school applied for in the whole country. Many believe that we are affiliated with the San Sebastian
College-Recoletos whish is run by Augustinian-Recoletos Congregation. No, RAI is absolutely not related to SSC-Recoletos.
Others also think it's Sumulong Memorial High School's Elementary Department. For clarification purpose - not at all. SMHS
is a superfriend of RAI though.
Recoletos Academy Inc. operated under Government Permit for the first five years. (SY 2002-2005) as a non-sectarian, non-profit
institution. However, on August 30, 2005 DepEd granted the much awaited Government Recognition
(K - 037 Series of 2005 and E - 031 Series of 2005).
